We wanted to wait until everything was in and settled before we shared
the news that with the support of so many people, we were able to
purchase the Wallace family a mobile home about a month ago-along with a
lot of other items within the home! The Lord worked out SO many
details-way too many to share-one of which that this mobile home that HE
PROVIDED was just a mobile home that happened to be sitting on land
that a Huntsville family purchased. They needed to hurry and get rid of
it so they could build a home on the land. Before they put it up for
sale, they completely gutted it, put in new flooring, cabinets, paint on
the walls etc, and then because they were in a hurry to get rid of it,
put it up for $4,000-which is almost to the dime what we raised in our
fundraiser. NOT a coincidence! The seller waived the $1,500 moving fee
and decided to include the moving costs within the $4,000. A lot of
the $4,000 mobile homes we had looked at were just not acceptable, and
we just kept praying for the Lord's provision!
The seller moved the home onto the original property where the
Wallace family lost their home. The Red Cross was able to provide some
living room furniture and a washer/dryer. They were able to get their
utilities turned on and moved in last night. We went over today to
bring them a carload of donations, and couldn't believe how nice
everything looked. Why do we doubt that God will follow through with
what he starts?? I guess I had in my mind that I wouldn't put Sadie
down while we visited because it would probably be dirty-not sure what I
was expecting...but we were amazed at all of the new shiny appliances(
oven, microwave, washer and dryer and fridge), crisp couches, new
flooring and giant TV all provided by generous people in our area.
Sadie even christened the new carpet by throwing her cup of cheerios all
over the place! =) Someone donated giftcards to Home depot, so we were able
to buy some of those there, and gave them the leftovers to buy whatever
is needed for maintenance, storage, building a deck, landscaping, etc in
the future) Most importantly, the relationship we've formed with them
is one of eternal value. Many conversations have led to Gospel seeds
being planted, and both Vicky and Walter today had tears in their eyes
of gratitude to the Christians that have reached out to them, and have
shown interest in finding a church to plug into nearby.
Thank you for your prayers and generosity throughout this process!
We serve a God that is alive and active among us...what a testimony we
have of that now!
